Ruff Trax (2004)

This is my most recent release and a solo project to boot. With the exception of some fine guitar performances by my good friends Andy Bartel and Robbie Rist, I’m responsible for the racket.

This started out as a demo project for legendary producer Richard Gottehrer, who upon hearing “The Jesse Garon Project,” wanted to hear more.

I look at this one as a progression of bridging a lot of different styles, kind of like A.M. radio did in the 60’s & 70’s. I do find it interesting that most consider this a “retro” sounding release. To me, it’s just rock ‘n’ roll. Some of my favorite tunes are here.

CD is available and garnishing excellent reviews.

The Jesse Garon Project (1997)

I named for, of course, Elvis’ older, stillborn twin, not a French impressionist. This project was a culmination of recordings and performances by a revolving cast of characters. Andy Bartel, Teddy Freese and Steve Kobashigawa, were the anchors of my live band at the time. I wanted to capture that sound. I consider this one a very good recording with some really good songs, with guest appearances by Robbie Rist, Dave Katz, pedal steel by Chris Lawrence and a cool cover of Elvis' "Tender Feeling." A very fun project all-in-all.

Some CD’s are still available. It got wonderful reviews.

Barry Holdship & L-TAG (1994)

Kind of a solo project I did, when I started drifting away from L-TAG. There are some really nice songs here, including an acoustic version of the Bee Gees’ “If I Only Had My Mind On Something Else.” Some of which were re-recorded on later projects. First time Steve & I recorded together.

It’s available as CD-R only.

Let's Talk About Girls (1987)

What can I say? My first band, named after the classic Chocolate Watch Band tune, I started with my brother Bill when we were attending MSU. We were quite a phenomenon. Playing to packed crowds everywhere and opening for some the best bands (including the Replacements) of the time and managed by John Sinclair. (Yep, the “Gave Him 10 For Two” guy.)

This EP was a culmination of originals I had started writing at that time. Recorded live in a very fast & short duration, it captures the energy and spirit of my first band. You never forget your first. It got some excellent reviews, including John Morthland calling it “one of the best rock ‘n’ roll records in recent memory.”

Art work was done by famed artist Gary Grimshaw. It also features, my brother Bill’s classic tune, “When The Bomb Falls, Baby!” Love & death in 4/4 rock ‘n’ roll.

I still have some available on vinyl & CD-R.
